INCLUDED ACTIVITIES Hiking with Silversea Expedition team
I go for a hike, 3.5 km. Bob goes kayaking 4 km
I had a lovely hike, with lots to see and the weather also put on a show. I had sun, a bit of wind, gale force winds and then for the last 15 minutes pelting rain. I saw birds of all kinds (mom would be mad since I don’t know the names), seals, sheep. Our guide let us wander along the path at our own speed so that was great for me.
It was quite windy this morning as Bob was not sure he would get out but he did. He will now report on his trip….. I got to wear a dry suit so I stayed dry. We zodiac’d to a different island bay where it was sheltered out of the wind. We then transferred from the zodiac into our 2 person kayaks and off we went. We also experienced sun, light rain, blowing rain, blue sky, a typical day in Scotland. At one point 2 seals checked us out. Lots of nesting birds on the cliffs and we saw Puffins in the water (don’t tell Susan, she would be jealous) We paddled for about an hour, 4 km, transferred back to the zodiac and had a long ride back into the the wind.
Off to lunch, British pub lunch today.

INCLUDED ACTIVITIES Zodiac Cruise with Silversea Expedition team
We do this together. As we got dressed for this trip out the ship was rocking and the waves were waving. In the prep room we were told the water was “spicy” so it was taking more time than normal to “load” the passengers on to these rubber tubes of fun. For me I need to be at the back so need to get on first, so I bravely led the motley crew. 4 crew were there to grab your arms and in my case “lift” you from the ship to the zodiac. After a bit all 12 of us were loaded up and off we went into the waves and splashes.
It was a slow trip to the cliffs to see the birds and cliffs. There we were a bit more sheltered so the waves reduced and I was able to reduce my death grip on safety rope. I only took my phone camera in a drybag so pics will come soon. There were 1,000’s of birds, a seal popping by to say hi.
We then were told we needed to head back to the ship so we slowly worked through the waves, death grip now back in full force. It was a very long process as they were switching over groups, one group getting out and another getting in, all while timing the step to match the bouncing of the zodiac with the rolling of the ship. Bob got a video of this, luckily I am little so they kind of just toss me.
Then off to trivia, our team was last, much to the upset of our new New York pals. And I quote, “We never come in last place”. But I was able to answer a few questions so I did my part. And there was champagne and chips so I was fine.
We had dinner at La Dame the french restaurant, it was very good, excellent service.
Off to bed for a rock and rolling night. We lose and hour tonight as we head to Norway.
