June 3 Tromso

 JUNE 03 2025, TUESDAY

Today some folks get off the ship and others join us as we head even further north.

Tromsø - Norway

Today the program was changed since the cable car to the top of a mountain was under renovation.  So we got on the bus in the rain and headed off to a botanical garden, I had low expectations but it was lovely.

Then back on the bus and off to a look out, did i mention it was raining, but along the way we saw reindeer so that was good.

Then back on the bus to the Polar museum, which was heavily hunting which was a problem for some in the group as it was so cruel. But that was not the problem for Bob and I.  Bob and I had most problems with a “pride” presentation about “queers” in the exploration past,   WOW is all we can say.  Hopefully it was a translation problem.

We move on to the Arctic cathedral, it was lovely, they had glass angels but no way they would make it home in one piece.

Back to the ship for a quick lunch and off again to explore.  We did a Sealing ship, great tour and presentation.  Then to the oldest bar in Tromso and then a few shops ( xmas decoration ) and another church.

But now we come to the show stopper… the best thing so far, it made us laugh… it made Bob worry about my sanity.., here it is… the Troll Museum.  When you are in Tromso, which I am sure you will be, you have to do this tour, I say tour it is 2 rooms but they bring a smile to your face.

After returning triumphant from the museum to the ship we quickly headed to trivia, tied for first.  Yes Janice that is why we cruise.

Tonight we were sailing out so decided to eat in our room.  Other than the regular disagreement about what I can and cannot eat, it was lovely we sit and eat and drink, okay drink might be a bit before eat.

Now the real north begins.

  2. Big auroras around the north - if you get clear sky it could be great. Janice says even down to here but no clear sky.
