May 22 - Arrive in Edinburgh

After flying over night  we planned to make a connection to Edinburgh where a car will take us to the hotel.  Staying at The Kimpton Charlotte Square.

Surprise to those who know me very well I am not planning the days here, I know what I would like to see so just going to wander.  This trip is all about just letting go and try new things so thought we should start with that in mind.

When you decide not to plan the gods plan for you.  Our flight from TO was delayed about 1 hour, we will not name names but one of our party was very nervous that we would not make our connection to Edinburgh, it was going to be tight without a delay but now…

We landed in London and had 1 hour to make our connection (get off plane, go through customs, go through security and find new gate). With lots of Canadian “excuse me and thank you’s” we made it to our flight as it was boarding.  We arrived in Edinburgh and headed to the luggage carousel, Bob watched many bags go around but when the belt stopped it was clear that our bags had not made the trip with us, the ipod tags confirmed that they were still in London.  We were blessed with a wonderful girl who helped us report their lostness and she promised they would make it to our hotel by the end of the day.

We headed out to get our car, the driver was about to leave since we were taking so long to get out of baggage claim. Got to the hotel quickly and it is lovely about 1 block for the castle.

Without bags to worry about we headed out to see the city.  For those who have been here, this city is all on a slope and for some reason we were always on the bottom of the very steep staircase.

We saw lots of wonderful sites, a great pub but  we finally decided that since we have only had about 2 hours sleep in 36 hours we needed to call it a day around 5:30.  We headed back to the hotel and gave our missing luggage a nice hug before we headed down to happy hour in the bar, free drinks and popcorn.

We have reservations at the castle in the morning.
